I have pondered extensively on what to write for my blog, events being so incredibly challenging. From Mother Nature’s power with storms, fires and earthquakes to politically taxing times where leaders threaten to take away health care and send us to war.
In the news I hear reporters say over and over “these are such unprecedented times…” There are so many events that have never happened before! So here we stand on the edge of a completely unfamiliar abyss, facing the unknown.
When I find myself in this place in some aspect of my life, I recall a scene in the Indiana Jones movie “The Last Crusade.” The bad guys want Indiana to cross an abyss to get the Holy Grail; they fatally wound his dad to force his hand. He stands at the edge of the abyss; he looks around and has nothing – no ropes, no wood – nothing that can help him across. He is running out of time for his father is dying, and he cannot jump for it is too far. He takes a breath and steps into the vast empty darkness fully expecting to fall to his death.
Instead he finds his foot meets enough resistance to support his weight. There is nothing but air, yet he can walk across. (In case you didn’t see the movie Indiana does reach the Grail and saves his dad.)
As I was saying, when life seems so tough I have no idea which way to turn or what to do next, I just take a breath and take the very next step. I always land somewhere and I am always able to move forward. It is possible to do, and if I can do it – so can you.
Godspeed to each and every one who is facing challenging times.

There is one good and amazing thing that comes out of such disasters like Harvey and Irma. We discover how incredibly resilient each and every one of us is. Without your regular life literally ripped away from you how else would you discover that you can go on? That you can re-build? That other human beings regardless of ideology or color unconditionally reach out to help you? How else do you bring out the best in yourself and everyone around you?
Harvey and Irma are worth their weight in gold for shaking up your life and challenging everybody to be their very best and bring out in each one survival skills you had no clue you had. In addition these storms also moved out old energies and are forcing you to start fresh all over.
Sometimes we resist change. We get comfortable in our routines and life styles. Here you have no other alternative but to discover that LIFE (and you) WILL NOT BE CONTAINED!
