Living out in the country, when the weather turns cold it is time to work on the land! I particularly enjoy clearing an area of fallen branches and trees that have died. It isn’t easy work and Mother Nature produces endlessly so I have my work cut out! For example, I started my day by exploring an area I had not worked on for probably 7 years. I was floored to discover the road I used to get the tractor to that area now is impassable so many new trees have grown there! I have no idea how I’m going to get to that area, but that is a challenge for another day.
This day I wanted to clear branches from several dead trees we had dropped over the summer. As I grabbed each branch I was in awe of its beauty. I wish I could keep them all! Sadly, there is absolutely no way to do that! So I am picking up each branch and noticing how it grew to reach the sunlight. Each branch in its own particular way moved and sought out the light. I was struck by the thought “each branch is a prayer to the sun and every one of them is an example of harmonious relationship with the wind, the light and all other branches around it.” No wonder I am in awe of each piece I pick up.
Our thoughts are like branches up to the all that is. Are your thoughts seeking the light? Are they all examples of harmonious relationships with everything and everyone around you?
